Cautionary Tales Book Design
Book Design
Brief:
Re-illustrate and redesign Hilaire Belloc's 'Cautionary Tales for Children' for an adult audience.

This was a collaborative project, and I worked alongside four other designers. I worked within the group as the typographer. As a group, we generated ideas, and made decisions about the style, font, colour scheme and illustrations. We successfully worked together as a team. We chose a dark, high-contrast inky illustration style with textured line work. We also decided to go for a grayscale with elements of red to highlight key elements in the poem.

We used the app ‘Overly' to create an augmented reality element within our book. When a crow was seen on a page the viewer would be required to scan the page using the ‘Overly’ app, and then an animation of a crow flying across the page would appear to foreshadow the consequences of the children’s actions.
